Carers Week (9th – 15th June) is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t see themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.

Ahead of National Volunteers week, which runs from 2 until 8 June , Cadets attended a special celebration event at police headquarters in Middlemoor, last week, which shone a light on the valuable contribution cadets make to the force.

At the event held on Wednesday 28 May, Devon & Cornwall Police recognised 100 Cadets and 30 Cadet Leaders for their efforts and for giving up their free time to support police officers to make local communities safer.

Thousands of trees to be planted in Broadclyst and Poltimore thanks to council-backed community project

Up to 3,000 trees will take root in Broadclyst and Poltimore thanks to matched funding from East Devon District Council and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Volunteers have already planted the first 150 trees, forming a new hedgerow at the upcoming Clyst Meadows Country Park near Broadclyst Station.
