Countryside Skills course aims to help career paths

A six-week "Countryside Skills" course will be held next month for unemployed people interested in working in the environment and countryside management sectors. The course, which starts on Tuesday 10 January, has been developed by community interest company Running Deer and is funded through Devon County Council’s Natural Capital Challenge Fund (NCCF), which was created to stimulate the county’s post-Covid recovery. On Wednesday 14th December, passengers travelling through Exeter City Centre’s Bus Station were treated to a live Carol Concert as part of the Stagecoach South West ‘It’s Christmas’ event.

Across the country, hundreds of people have been Walking Home For Christmas in support of military veterans. From epic cross-country treks to sponsored walks home from school, people of all ages have braved freezing temperatures to help former servicemen and women.

South Western Railway reminds customers of early shutdown on Christmas Eve with last trains departing as early as midday

SOUTH Western Railway (SWR) is reminding customers to only travel if absolutely necessary on Christmas Eve as strike action and industrial action will mean a severely reduced service that ends by 15:00. Parts of the network will be closed completely on Christmas Eve and customers are urged to check www.southwesternrailway.com/strike for the latest information.
