Cooper Associates helps children's dreams come true

Exeter’s leading independent financial services company, Cooper Associates, has been busy raising money for charity Dreams Come True by attempting to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge. Lisa Rawle, Group Office Manager at Cooper Associates, recently attempted the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Dreams Come True, a charity working to fulfil the wishes of children with serious or terminal illnesses. The National Three Peaks Challenge involves a gruelling climb of Britain’s three highest mountains – England’s Scafell Pike, Wales’ Mount Snowdon and Scotland’s Ben Nevis. The challenge...

EXETER City FC are hoping a secret ingredient will boost their season – beetroot!

The club has struck a deal with city-based drinks manufacturer Cobell to supply players with the first 100 per cent natural sports performance drink called PWR+.

And one of the key components of the brand new beverage is beetroot juice.

PWR+ has already been trialled by the Exeter Chiefs rugby team and now the Grecians are the first football club in the UK to take advantage of its unique benefits.

The drink was inspired by research at Exeter University into the natural benefits...

Footsbarn Theatre returns to its roots

Event Date:
26/09/2012 - 7:45pm
Venue:
The Northcott Theatre

One of the most thrilling and influential theatre companies to emerge out of the South West made a welcome return to its roots at the end of September, when internationally acclaimed Footsbarn Travelling Theatre performed the Indian Tempest at Exeter's Northcott Theatre to rave reviews.

Having studied The Tempest as part of my Drama degree at University, I was intrigued to see how this multi-cultural, rich and evocative reworking would play out, and I was not to be disappointed. The overwhelming response from the opening night audience was a feeling that we were in the...

Tisdale has lots to think about after home defeat

It was in front of the biggest home gate of the season of 5,454, that Exeter City handed their Westcountry visitors Bristol Rovers both goals on a plate in a poor 2-1 home defeat.

Back-to-back defeats for the first time this season see City slip to fifth in the table and if they play like that much more it won't be long before they slip further.

Far too often the ball was needlessly given away with sloppy passing or simply hoofed up the pitch for someone else to take responsibility when it was crying out to be played on the floor either out wide or around the giant Rovers...

Why would you give up a well paid job and take on a full-on Farm Shop in a recession? Well it has become a family affair - and an obsession to create something special on a local basis - for Mandy Pitts, Shaun Ryder and daughter Ellena, with a little help from a staff of 20 local people. Mandy, after 30 years in the Recruitment industry, was keen to take on a new challenge...

Colin Tudge and Ruth West to talk at Devon Food Conference

Will the ways we produce and distribute our food in Devon continue into the future? This is a major question to be addressed at mid-Devon conference next month.

Food is a critical issue for Devon’s economy and environment. Farming, fishing and food production are essential components of our culture. In addition, there is traditional Devon fare, food festivals, meat, fruit and vegetable competitions and hundreds of restaurants or eating places.

Yet at the same time, food poverty is a growing reality for some local people. The growth in Food Banks in the...

How essential is having a car in 2026?

Daily travel in the UK looks very different in 2026 than it did even a few years ago. Hybrid working has changed commuting patterns, household budgets remain under pressure, and better transport links in some areas mean owning a car no longer feels quite as automatic as it once did. The question is less “should everyone have a car?” and more “does a car still make sense for the way this person actually lives?”

For many households, that answer depends on the messy details of real life rather than any grand theory about modern mobility. Around a quarter of workers now hybrid-work...

This guide is intended to help. It covers the practical...
