Like a bring and buy sale but without the buying bit! This is the latest venture from a group of local community activists. They will provide an opportunity for people to declutter their homes and lives whilst sharing this stuff with anyone who feels they could benefit from it.

Previously there have been: books, DVDs, children's clothes, crockery, jewellery, ornaments, home-baked biscuits and even jars of jam!

No one makes a profit from this activity and everything finds a new home - winners all round!

Exmouth RNLI on Hairy Bikers Everyday Gourmet

Exmouth RNLI members are due to make an appearance on the Hairy Bikers Everyday Gourmet programme tonight at 8pm on BBC Two.

Following a rescue of four young men on October 23 2011, volunteer crew members Mark Champion and Andy Williams both received an inscription of thanks from the Institution on Vellum for their roles. In-shore lifeboat helmsman, Roger Jackson who was awarded a bronze medal for gallantry for the same rescue, cooked a meal for 12 RNLI volunteers to thank them. Work begins on solar panels for City Council buildings

Work has begun on the installation of solar panels on Exeter City Council's buildings.

The 800 panels, which are currently being put up on two roofs of the Civic Centre and three other sites across Exeter, will have a capacity of about 200 kilowatts – that’s the equivalent of 50 standard domestic solar photovoltaic systems!

Exeter Gets Together for International Women’s Day

Local groups and people from across Devon have been gathering at Oxfam's Exeter shop this morning (Wednesday 13th February 2013) to launch Oxfam’s Get Together campaign for International Women’s Day, which raises money to support women living in poverty worldwide.

Police keen to trace heavy goods vehicle after A30 collision

Update: There is no change in the condition of the casualty.

Police have recovered the debris from the scene, which are two nearside mirrors from a heavy goods vehicle. The lorry will be a Volvo FL or FE, an LF DAY or a Renault 1818 or 2711. Police are appealing to anyone who has any information about this type of vehicle or to dealers who may have be asked to repair such damage to call them on 101 quoting log number 0696 120213.

Exeter SEAT boasts two of the UK's Top Service People

An Exeter car retailer is celebrating the news that two of its employees have secured first place in a coveted national competition.

Geoff Govier, 30, emerged victorious in the Parts Manager category while Adrian Christie, 40, was named Best Service Manager at SEAT's recent Top Service People final, after they excelled in a customer satisfaction incentive. Effective safer driving campaign wins big at national PR awards

A regional campaign to help make Devon and Cornwall’s roads safer has been hailed as the country’s top public sector campaign by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Local Public Services Group.

The Honest Truth joins up several public bodies with driving schools, providing driving instructors across Devon and Cornwall with free teaching resources to help teach youngsters safer driving habits. The project has also been taken on by the Fire Service in Hertfordshire.

Appeal after £70,000 taps stolen in Newton Abbot

Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a large quantity of taps from a Newton Abbot scrap company.

The taps – valued at £70,000 – were taken from a scrap metal yard on Kingsteignton Road between 5pm and 9pm.

Police believe that a large red and white truck was used in the raid with possibly the occupants of a dark car and a small white panel van also involved.

The truck was loaded from within Gormans Metal Ltd with the truck parked in the business park next to it and was fairly quiet due to Sunday trading and most premises being shut at that time...
