As You Like It a Shakespearean production full of of cross-dressing, love-notes; poetry, gentle satire and slapstick and passion.

Police puppy naming competition via Facebook

Devon and Cornwall Police are inviting members of the public to name six out of the seven puppies born to Force brood bitch, Ruby, last month. The competition will be run through the Devon and Cornwall Police Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/DevonandCornwallpolice ) from 10 to 18 July 2013. As this litter of puppies are the first litter Devon and Cornwall Police have bred they will be known as litter ‘A’ and all suggested names given on Facebook need to begin with the letter ‘A’. Flood risk work schedule approved

A programme of investment in flood risk management works and studies has been agreed by Devon County Council’s Cabinet.

More than 1,000 homes and businesses in the county were flooded during the unprecedented rainfall across Devon in 2012 and early 2013 and many thousands more are at risk in the future.

Halfords teams up with charity to send unwanted second hand bikes to Africa

Halfords in the Exeter area are to take unwanted bikes off customers’ hands in an initiative to provide much-needed affordable transport for communities in Africa.

For six days, from Thursday 11 July to Tuesday 16 July, Britain’s biggest bike retailer is inviting customers to bring cycles currently lying abandoned in garages and garden sheds to any of its 460 stores.

Those donating bikes will be offered a 10% deal off the price of a brand new model as well as seeing their old two-wheeler go to a good cause.

Helping to keep children safe on farms

As the school holidays approach, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is reminding farmers to think about the everyday risks and hazards on their farms and how they can protect children and young people from those risks.

HSE has revised and improved guidance aimed at reducing child deaths on farms and providing essential information on keeping children safe.
