Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival has best year yet

Organisers of the fifth annual Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival have reported a record breaking year selling the highest number of tickets in the festival’s history.

This year’s festival, which took place from 19th – 22nd September attracted international interest with organisers taking orders for tickets from the other side of the globe.

DFS employees conquer Olympic rafting course for BBC Children in Need

Tom Lemon at leading furniture retailer, DFS, in Exeter has completed an extreme outdoor challenge to raise money for BBC Children in Need as part of DFS’s endeavour to raise over £1 million for the charity this year.

Exeter Green Circle walk: Part 1

Friendly, easy-paced walk taking in the Exeter landscape and its autumn wildlife.

This walk follows the Ludwell Valley, Mincinglake and Hoopern Valley for approx. 6.5 miles with some steep and muddy sections, finishing at Millers Crossing, Bonhay Rd.

Join Deveon Willdife Trust for part or all of the route.

Goes from Ludwell Valley entrance, off Topsham Rd (opposite Northbrook golf course), Exeter.

Milling at Cricklepit

Exeter nurse holds a week-long bake-off for a charity close to her heart

Carol Day, a nurse at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital organised a week-long bake-off to raise awareness of a little known a genetic condition and help raise money for Jeans for Genes.

Carol’s son Tobey was born with Smith Lemli Opitz syndrome 15 months ago and has had numerous appointments to help his physical and mental development.

The bake-off has raised £279, thanks to all the staff – doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals – who made and bought the cakes.
