Crowds of over nine thousand braved the wind and rain on Sunday 15th December to see the Coca Cola Christmas Truck visit Exeter. The iconic Coca Cola Christmas truck came to Exeter over the weekend after the city was uncovered as a 'Kindness Hotspot'. Coca Cola have uncovered ' Kindess Hotspots' across the UK, where in certain cities and towns across Great Britain people have been going above and beyond to bring joy to others, and Exeter is one of them! 64 year-old Chawleigh Woman charged

Police have charged a 64-year-old woman, Linda Elt from Chawleigh for attempting to damage or destroy property with the intent to endanger life.

Elt was arrested following a stand-off with armed police at a property in Chawleigh yesterday morning

Elt held petrol can and was making threats to harm herself, others and to damage the property.

Due to the nature of the threats the fire service was called to support the police.

She is due to appear in Exeter Magistrate’s Court later this afternoon.

U16 Girls and Boys and U18 Boys through to National Finals

Exeter School is proud of its U16 Girls and Boys and U18 Boys Indoor Hockey teams for making it to the National Indoor Hockey Finals on 10-12 January.

This is the first time three teams have represented the school at this national stage.

The U16 Girls met a wealth of hockey talent at the West Finals in Cheltenham on 30 November.

They were winners of the section and played Cheltenham Ladies College in the semi finals winning 6-1.

They played King's Bruton in the final. It was 2-2 at full time and Exeter lost on penalty flicks.

NFU and NPA meat labeling concerns

The NFU and NPA say that new European Commission rules on food labelling may lead to massive confusion for British shoppers keen to buy meat produced in the UK.

The Commission voted to introduce mandatory reared and slaughtered labelling rules. The NFU and NPA say that mandatory rules should have extended to born, reared and slaughtered – a decision which may increase consumer confidence at a time when the industry is still reeling following the horsemeat scandal.

Dogs are more capable than ever of being able to predict and understand human behaviour than ever before according to research by the evolutionary biology laboratory at Abertay University in Dundee. The research sought to understand better the link between nature and nature in dogs’ ability to follow human given cues. 100mph storm winds to hit UK on Christmas Day

Forecasters have issued a double warning over two large storm depressions heading towards the UK, the second of which is expected to mean a stormy Christmas for the whole country.

The first depression known as Storm Emily is expected to arrive in Scotland and Northern Ireland late tomorrow night and with winds expected to hit between 80 an 100mph, leading the Met Office to issue a severe weather warning.

The storm is expected to worsen on Thursday but the Met Office has said that persistent rain will quickly clear to be replaced with frequent wintry showers.
