A suspected unexploded bomb found in Exmouth has put emergency repair work on hold while bomb disposal teams approach the “mystery canister”.

Eight workers from Eastr Devon District council were on the seafront near the boating lake helping to dismantle an ice cream hut that was in danger of being washed out to sea and becoming a danger to shipping.

When the canister was spotted, Coastguard officers were called and they decided to enforce a 30-metre exclusion zone, which mean that work on the hut had to be suspended until Bomb Disposal officers from Plymouth reached the...

Life of Brian... at Axhayes

Before coming to our centre, poor Brian was living as a stray in the city.

When he arrived at Axhayes he was in a poor state. His once long fluffy ginger and white hair was really badly matted and scabby. It must have been very uncomfortable, maybe even painful for him. Even though his fur would have been causing him much discomfort, he has been an absolute delight! He’s been very friendly and affectionate with our girls. He was just grateful for a warm bed away from the cold winter weather, some food and of course cuddles from our CCAs.

The next day he went to see our vet...

There are fears that more severe flooding could be on the way as the Met Office upgrade many of its severe weather warnings to ‘amber’ for the rest of the week. Forecasters predict that further spells of heavy and persistent rain will remain in Devon until a Saturday morning adding an extra strain to already saturated ground. The Met Office’s Chief Forecaster said: “Another area of low pressure will bring spells of heavy rain to southern England from Thursday afternoon...
