Reg and Margaret Nott celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on 30 April.
Eighty-nine year old Reg and Margaret, 84, were married at St Mary’s Church in Morchard Bishop and farmed at East Worlington until 1990 when they moved to Crediton.

Both love quiz programmes, their favourite being Countdown. Their Countdown-themed anniversary cake even had the word “anniversary” on it with the letters jumbled up, just like the TV quiz.
Reg and Margaret said when they met it was love at first sight, although it...

Last Friday, guests enjoyed a great event hosted by Kirk Hills, at the 11th Exeter Food Festival – and even the sun made an appearance!
The highlight of the event involved an omelette challenge, similar to that on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen. For the challenge itself, eight contestants took part: Sarah Chamberlain (Kirk Hills) – 38 seconds Damian Cook (Stratton Creber) – 39...

We seem to pride ourselves on our democracy – that we have occasional opportunities to influence the choice of our leaders, yet we are surely a long way from Abraham Lincoln’s definition of “government of the people, by the people, for the people.” At best we live in a representative democracy whereby we elect politicians at different levels and lend them our permission or power for a few years to represent our concerns at centres of governance, whether Town Hall, Whitehall or Strasbourg. But this is a limited political process and does not open itself readily to the more participative...
