Cadhay is opening its doors for an afternoon and evening of entertainment for all to enjoy.

The gardens of Cadhay, Ottery St. Mary, will be open from 2pm- 5pm on May 28. There will be delicious cream teas available for the public.

During the evening Cadhay will be hosting a performance of ‘All for Love’ by Words 4 Voices. The evening starts with a delicious two course buffet with wine.

Cerebra is thrilled to announce the launch of their Children's Awards for 2014, celebrating some of the amazing achievements of children with neurological conditions.

Cerebra is a national charity supporting children and families who live with neurological conditions such as autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, among many others, as well as children who have an acquired brain injury. Exeter dance teacher to meet one of her ballet idols

Ava Barron Thomas who runs her babyballet school in Exeter is to meet national ballet treasure, Wayne Sleep, OBE.

At only 5’2in Sleep is famous for being the shortest male dancer ever admitted into the Royal Ballet School. He has performed with everyone from Nureyev to Princess Diana and earlier this year won public acclaim for turning non-professional, largely overweight amateurs into dancers for a Channel 4 documentary, ‘Big Ballet’.

Fundraising team from Devon support Dementia Awareness Week

Six members of staff from Quay Court Care Centre, Devon, are undertaking an Air, Sea and Land challenge during Dementia Awareness Week in aid of Alzheimer’s Society. Dementia Awareness week began on Sunday and continues until 24 May.

Katie Frost, Julie Edmonds, Natasha Hyne, Jes Hawkes, Georgina Rose Mercy, Sharon Frost, and Tim Colebrook are those taking part.

Firefighters tackle forage harvester blaze

Firefighters from both Middlemoor and North Tawton were called to tackle a forage harvester fire which took place at Ruxford Barton, Sandford, Crediton last night.

The incident, which occured just after 10pm, saw firefighters extinguish the harvester which had become extremely alight.

Crews used two hose reel jets and small tools to extinguish the fire. Mobile lighting was also used to make the harvester safe.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirm this was an accidental fire, believed to be caused by an electrical fault.

Firefighters rescue child and elderly woman

Firefighters have today rescued both an elderly woman and young child in two seperate incidents today.

The first incident, at 5.22am, saw an appliance from Honition called to Beats Close, Awliscombe,Honiton after a toddler had become locked in a bathroom.

The child escaped unscathed after fire crews used small tools to gain access to the bathroom.

At 10.11am crews were also called to rescue an elderly woman who had become stuck in a lift.

The incident, which took place at Lower Brook Street, Teignmouth, resulted in two Teignmouth appliances being deployed...
