Pavement parking is a danger for older people and legislation should be clearer, says the results of a YouGov poll commissioned by Living Streets out today (09 January 2015).

Escalating bus subsidies to be capped

Council taxpayers in Devon are subsidising some bus trips by nearly £20 for every individual passenger, it has been revealed.

Now the county council is considering lowering caps on subsidies it will pay for bus journeys in Devon that would otherwise have been withdrawn by their commercial operators for being unprofitable.

The ceiling will depend on the type of service and bigger subsidies are proposed for public transport which provides the last link for communities with bigger towns and for services which people use to get to and from work.

Currently one subsidised...

Baxter sings Lewis's praises

Rob Baxter believes Dave Lewis will get his chance to have a ‘big say’ on how the Exeter Chiefs will go over the remainder of the season.

On the day the 25-year-old committed his future to the Aviva Premiership club for the next two years, the Chiefs head coach gave the talented scrum-half a ringing endorsement of the quality he brings to his side.

A pre-season elbow injury sustained at Cardiff Blues meant Lewis was forced to sit out much of the opening half of the season, but now fully fit the former Gloucester back is looking to help the Chiefs kick on.
