Police crackdown on illegal raves

Devon and Cornwall Police are calling upon the public to help them prevent and disrupt illegal raves over the busy May Bank Holiday.

The Force will be running Operation Derig to take a tough stance against rave goers and organisers by closing down illegal gatherings.

Dedicated officers will patrol potential rave sites due to the increased risk of illegal events over the holiday weekend.

Trust gains national recognition for use of high-tech eRoster system

The Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust was highly commended at a national awards ceremony for its use of a high-tech electronic system to ensure safe staffing levels.

The Trust was a finalist in the ‘project team of the year’ category at the annual Allocate Awards in Birmingham.

The Trust has used the HealthRoster staff management system since 2008.

It has since become one of the first Trusts in the country to roll out additional software called SafeCare and CAM.

Prospective homeowners flocked to Millbrook Village – Exeter’s first luxury retirement village – on Friday 17th April as it opened its new show home to the public for the first time.

Devon County Council scam caller warning

Devon County Council is urging residents to be on their guard following a number of complaints about a telephone caller, who claims to be from the authority, and asks about a recent accident.

These calls are not from, or authorised by, the council but appear to be a scam to try to get residents to provide personal details.

The caller introduces themselves as an officer from Devon County Council and then asks about an accident in the past year or two and talks about making a compensation claim.

Exeter School gives thanks to Founders

Exeter School’s annual Founders’ Day Service was held at Exeter Cathedral on Wednesday 22 April.

The whole school, comprising boys and girls aged 7-18, staff and governors, gathered to give thanks to its founders in a beautiful service.

The Reverend Hilary Dawson, Rector of Colyton, gave an address at the school’s service encouraging the congregation to live life to the full and do all the good you can in the words of John Lesley, the English preacher, and founder of the Methodist movement.

The service was conducted by the School Chaplain, Mr John Allan.
