Pioneering company launches in Exeter

Functional medicine is a science based healthcare approach, which treats illness and promotes wellness by focusing on the unique aspects of each patient: functional medicine then employs individual tailored interventions to restore physiological, psychological and structural balance.

Functional Health Screening is a clinic that will provide this integrated approach of looking at patients as a whole rather than individual symptoms.

Functional Health Screening launched in Exeter at the Innovation Centre.

Functional Heath Screening is a partnership project with Thermalogica, a pioneering thermal imaging technology, which is able to detect early signs of disease and dysfunction, and Dr Rajendra Sharma, a leading integrated medical doctor. Dr Sharma utilizes conventional, functional and complementary screening and medicine to identify and treat chronic disease and try to identify underlying causes.

Louis Joyce, a client of Functional Health Screening said: ‘’Having a full body scan was really quick and unobtrusive. The scan provided me with piece of mind that there was nothing wrong with my health, and empowered me with information about what I could do to improve areas of my body which were not functioning as well as they could be. The launch event at the Innovation Centre was attended by 100 people interested in alternative health treatments coming to the South West.

The Deputy Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Rob Newby attended the event, he said: ‘’It is fantastic to see something so forward thinking come to Exeter. It is these unique businesses which make Exeter and the South West an exciting place to live, I am sure that Functional Health Screening will be a leader in integrated medicine across the rest of the UK.’’

Functional Health Screening is based at Holmedale Health, Denmark Road, Exeter. Among the many various therapies offered by associated practitioners, Functional Health Screening will provide a range of tests and investigations and many home test kits, that look at the underlying causes of ill health. The results will help guide treatment options using an integrated approach.
