Mark Fowles, partner at law firm Browne Jacobson, has been appointed as the new President of the Insurance Institute of Exeter for 2015-16.

There’s no better way to say it than with flowers. Which is exactly why NAFAS (The National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies) is using beautiful little bunches to spread some love around the UK on National Flower Arranging Day (Friday 1st May 2015).

The charity plans to distribute over 60,000 bouquets across the UK embracing ‘The Lonely Bouquet’ concept for the second year in a row. Across the Devon and Cornwall 56 clubs plan to distribute bouquets.

Exeter Uni top for international students

The University of Exeter has won a prestigious award for providing the best international student experience of any university in the UK.

The University secured the celebrated ‘International Student Choice Category’ at the Whatuni Student Choice awards, held on Thursday, 23 April.

Pensioners lead crowdfunding revolution

Pensioners are three times more likely to pledge on projects than Britain's digital youth*, says Crowdfunder

The UK's No1 crowdfunding platform has revealed that Britain's senior citizens could be leading the huge growth in crowdfunding as they are more likely to pledge money on projects more than any other age group.

Analysis from the alternative funding website found that in the month of March over 12.5 % of people who pledged on the site, were aged 65+, compared to just 9.3% of 18-25 year olds.

Record numbers to run Marathon

When registration desks at the London Marathon Expo at ExCeL London closed at 17:00 today, a total of 38,262 accepted applicants for places had picked up their running numbers and Ipico Sports Timing tags.

Around 37,800 are predicted to start today, making the 2015 London Marathon the biggest in the event’s 35-year history.

The previous record was set in 2012 when 37,227 started and 36,705 finished the race.

A leading Devon law firm has been ranked number 1 in the UK for its influence on Twitter, according to digital marketing specialists I-com.

Stephens Scown LLP, which is based in Exeter, came top in the survey which looked at the influence or “Klout” of the top 200 law firms on Twitter.

I-com first ranked firms by Klout alone - a figure prepared by Twitter to rank the effectiveness of its users - and Stephens Scown was placed second, but when they factored in the size of the firm and its revenue compared to other larger firms, Stephens Scown moved into first place.
