Devon country parks win top accolade

Two parks in Devon have received a top visitor attraction accolade.

The Grand Western Canal Country Park and Local Nature Reserve, and Stover Country Park, which are both managed by Devon County Council, have been awarded the prestigious Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for 2015.

Now in its fifth year, the award celebrates excellence in hospitality and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve great reviews from Trip Advisor travellers.

A public consultation on proposals to extend Dinan Way in Exmouth was launched yesterday (Tuesday 2 June).

Devon County Council is putting forward plans to complete Dinan Way, with a long awaited extension between Hulham Road and the A376.

While the online consultation is underway, there will also be a two day drop-in event at Brixington Community Church from 2pm to 7pm on Friday 12 June and from 10am to 2pm on Saturday 13 June, where people can view information, ask questions, and comment on the proposals. Woman attacked in Newton Abbot

Detectives are appealing to the public for information after a woman was robbed on the street in Newton Abbot.

The woman was approached at the bus stop outside the railway station by two men who asked her for a light for a cigarette.

She was then kicked by one of the men and fell to the floor where the second man grabbed her handbag.

The woman was further assaulted during the struggle before the offenders grabbed her purse from the bag and made off. The purse contained around £100.

Distell has recalled various bottles of wine because they might contain very small fragments of glass.

The wines are sold by Morrisons, Tesco and Waitrose.

If you have bought one of the products, do not use it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

The Food Standards Agency has issued a Product Recall Information Notice.
