A former student of Dame Gillian Weir and Allan Wicks (Organ), and Ronald Smith (Piano), Peter King was appointed Director of Music at Bath Abbey in 1986. Under his direction the Abbey Choir has visited Germany, Holland and France, and has released eight CDs and broadcast on BBC TV and Radio 3. In 1997 Peter started a Girls' Choir at Bath Abbey; it quickly established itself as one of the finest of such choirs. The money’s in for charity swim

LED are pleased to announce the grand total raised for the Force Cancer Charity Swim in February is over £5,138 with money still coming through!

Earlier this year swimmers across LED's five swimming pools were invited to take part in the Force Cancer Charity Swim where swimmers were asked to take part in either a 14 or 28 mile swim over the course of the month.

Fifty swimmers took part in the challenge to raise money for this local charity that has played a vital role in local cancer services for the last 26 years.

Flexible working gains support

Flexible working is gaining support from senior level managers.

In a new survey carried out by the world’s largest flexible workspace provider, Regus, 76% of Exeter professionals believe their senior management support the idea.

However, 71% of Exeter respondents say that managers require specific training in order manage their remote team members successfully. In particular, maintaining close contact is key. Over three quarters (79%) believe managers should speak to remote staff several times a week, and 89% think monthly face-to-face meetings are important.

A consultation will be held next week on Devon County Council’s plans to improve Exeter’s cycle network. With some major housing and employment developments underway and others proposed to the east and south of the city, the County Council is planning to improve cycling infrastructure and it wants to hear people’s views on its proposals. The proposed routes, linking Cranbrook to the city centre and University of Exeter, as well as connecting Newcourt to the city centre, aim to make cycle trips for leisure cyclists and commuters safer, quicker and more appealing. Recovery cafe to open in Exeter

Exeter will soon be home to the county’s first ever permanent recovery café.

A fund-raising drive is being held to fund the café, which will provide a much-needed community hub for people who have experienced issues with drugs or alcohol and their families. The café will be based at RISE Recovery Integration Services, which provides drug and alcohol support and treatment services for people across the area. Doesn't it drive you mad when you repeatedly answer cold callers.

How do they get your number? It's baffling.

We are x-directory, but everytime we have moved house, the calls seem to come think and fast and continue for years!

Knightshayes is hosting its third annual celebration of local food and music in the parkland on every Sunday during August. These are free events for the whole family.

Soupstock was started in 2013 as a way to help new audiences discover Knightshayes.
