82-year-old golfer plays 300th course

Jim Dowie, an 82 year old golfer from Exmouth has just reached a remarkable golfing milestone by playing on over 300 golf courses worldwide.

Jim, who is a member of Exeter Golf and Country Club set himself the 300 target back in 1997 when he was a mere lad aged just 64 when he started playing the game. Prior to taking-up golf, Jim played badminton at county level for many years.

Cycle Challenge gets more people cycling

Over 1,500 people from across Devon took part in the recent Love to Ride Cycle Challenge – collectively cycling 123,811 miles, the equivalent of cycling around the world almost five times.

More than 90 Devon businesses and organisations took part in the three week competition in June which aimed to introduce as many new people to cycling as possible.

Old Mill have used pedal power to raise £7,916 for Yeovil charity School in a Bag.

Thirteen staff from West Country accountants and financial planners took part in Paris to Yeovil (P2Y) - a 300 mile cycle ride from Paris to their offices at Maltravers House in Yeovil.

The money raised will help Yeovil based charity School in a Bag (SIAB)deliver rucksacks filled with stationery, learning resources and eating utensils to poor, orphan, vulnerable and disaster affected children.
