Holiday fun at Isca Church

Children had lots of fun at an Exeter church summer holiday club, with games, drama, crafts, stories and a sports day.

Staff and volunteers from Isca Church welcomed 67 children to the club, which had the theme Polar Explorers, and took place at Willowbrook School.

They held their sports day at the Exeter Arena and later enjoyed a high-spirited prize giving and bbq at the new The Beacon, youth and community centre in Beacon Heath.

Property specialist chalks up third sale in as many months

Plymouth commercial property specialist Bruton Knowles has sold an office investment near Plymouth city centre.

Glenn Kelly sold 210 Exeter Street next to the Cattedown Roundabout to a private investor off an asking price of £415,000 freehold.

The two-storey building – currently occupied by GP Strategies Training – offers a total of 3,818 sq ft of modern accommodation with seven parking spaces.

Glenn said the sale underlined increased investment interest across the city.

As the school summer holidays get into full swing, a survey has found that the humble chicken is likely to be in high demand on barbecues in the South West. Bangers and burgers have lost out as 29% of people in the South West named chicken as their top pick .

Six dogs rescued in A38 horror crash

Two men sustained serious injuries after a single-vehicle collision on the A38 at Chudleigh Knighton in the early hours of this morning [17 August].

Emergency services were called at 3.45am after a Ford Transit van left the road and collided with a tree near to the Chudleigh turn off on the northbound carriageway.

Three men, all from Spain, sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Two passengers, both men in their 20s, received serious injuries and remain in Derriford Hospital. One of the men sustained life-threatening injuries.
