Top award for Stagecoach SW employee

A Stagecoach South West employee was among the winners at the annual Stagecoach Group Champions Awards.

The awards – now in their sixth year – recognise excellence over six areas including Safety, Health, Community, Customer Service, Environment and Innovation.

At this year’s ceremony Stagecoach South West employee Toby Kay was awarded the Bronze Safety Champion award.

Dying Jo begins journey of hope

Dying mum Jo Smith has embarked on her 10-day trip to Arizona in a desperate bid to find a cure for her two terminal illnesses.

She is currently on a cruise liner with her best friend Sarah Lacey (pictured right) on the first leg of their journey.

Jo is so poorly, her doctor has banned her from flying.

Sarah, an Exeter-based music promoter, posted on Facebook: "I'm sat on my little bed on a very big boat with my best friend beside me, about to embark on our biggest mission yet.

Devon bank scam warning

Another victim in her 80's has been scammed by telephone fraudsters and persuaded to pass £6000 over because she was worried that her money in the bank was at risk.

Fraudsters will pretend to be calling from the Bank or from the Police and will be incredibly convincing that the elderly person's money is at risk in their own bank account. They will ask for bank details and encourage the victim to call their bank, whilst keeping the phone line open, fooling the victim into believing they are calling their own bank or the police.

GOALS FROM Clinton Morrison, Tom Nichols and Alex Nicholls ensured Exeter City have a place in the Second Round draw of the Emirates FA Cup at the Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow Stadium.

Learn with Devon’s libraries

Libraries across Devon are taking part in a national initiative to help people learn new digital skills in order to support economic growth and improve wellbeing.

According to a recent report by the House of Lords, the UK is in danger of falling behind in its digital skills capabilities, which could cost the economy around £2 billion.

Stagecoach invests £2.5m in luxury vehicles

Monday 23 November sees Stagecoach’s flagship brand, Stagecoach Gold, introduced on route 57, which connects Exeter and Exmouth with Topsham, Lympstone and Brixington.

The local operator has invested £2.5m in 11 new vehicles, all of which feature free Wi-Fi and USB charging, as well as leather seats with extra legroom, giving customers a luxury travel experience between city and sea.
