Inaugural Ladies Do Exeter event a success

Established all-female network, Ladies do Latte, held its first Exeter event in the heart of the city on Tuesday 1st March at ‘Circa 1924’.

Responding to member needs, organisers Ashley Petrons and Christelle Bonnel of Make it Marketing chose to host the event at lunchtime, rather than the traditional mid-morning meeting. Christelle says, “Being marketers through and through, we have been asking members what they would like from the network. Of course, you can never please everyone, but by at least asking we’re in with a much better chance of success.”

Evofit released after Exmouth burglary

Police have released an Evofit image of a suspect wanted in connection with a burglary in Exmouth.

On Friday 12th February a man knocked on the door of a property in Greenpark Road, Exmouth at around 1pm. The man discussed tree cutting with the elderly resident who realised her property had been searched when he left.

A number of wallets were stolen containing more than £2,000 in cash.

People in Exeter are being invited to tuck into a big Fairtrade breakfast on Saturday 5 March.

The event is being organised by Exeter Fairtrade City Steering Group to raise awareness of Fairtrade products and support farmers and suppliers from around the globe who often find it difficult to earn enough to feed their own families.

Fairtrade Fortnight starts on Monday (29 February) and runs until 13 March.

WAM -Weather Art and Music, an award-winning Special Interest Group of the Royal Meteorological Society, is to hold its next event in Exeter.

In collaboration with the University of Exeter, Double Elephant Print Workshop, the Met Office and the Royal Meteorological Society, the WAM Extreme Weather Event will be a diverse day of exploration and interaction for all ages, and an evening of entertainment and discussion.

People are being reminded that they can have their say on plans for a new bus station in Exeter at an open forum today Thursday (3 March).

Exeter City Council will be holding the event at the Corn Exchange in Exeter between 8am and 5.30pm.

The Council want to hear from members of the public and interested groups to inform the concept design of the new bus station. The Council want to hear people's views on:

• user facilities • coach arrangements • on street bus stops • arrangements during construction

Renters have paid £38k to landlords since 2010

Someone paying rent for an average two bedroom home in the South West would have forked out £38,137 to their landlord over the last five years, new analysis by housing and homelessness charity Shelter reveals today.

This is just under the sum needed for a 20% deposit on the average first time buyer home in the region, which is currently priced at £195,672.

Stagecoach extends discount for young people

Young people across the UK will to continue to benefit from lower bus fares after Stagecoach extended a national offer.
