Education recruitment specialist, Class People, has been revealed as a finalist for the prestigious Recruiter Awards 2016.

Class People, which has six branches across the South-west including Exeter and has recently launched in the South-East, has been selected for the ‘Best Temporary Recruitment Agency’ category in this years awards. Winners will be announced in London’s Mayfair on 4th May 2016.

Get ready for this on Bridge Road Exeter!

Temporary traffic lights will be introduced on Bridge Road in Exeter overnight on Monday and Tuesday evening next week to carry out changes to the lane closures.

From 11pm on Monday (18 April) until 5am the next morning and the same period overnight on Tuesday (19 April), traffic lights will be in place on short lengths of the road. This will allow the contractor to change the traffic management layout to a two-way traffic contraflow on the Bascule Bridge.

Anyone travelling at this time can expect delays, including limited periods of up to 10 minutes when the lights are set...

Afghans edged out in Exeter City Community Final

Previous holders Afghan United were edged out in a tight final of Exeter City’s One Game One Community Futsal tournament at the University of Exeter Sports Centre on Sunday (17 April). The new champions are FC Ballers, a group of friends from Exeter and East Devon who formed a team especially for the competition. They won the final 2-1. The third place play-off winners were Kurdish FC who beat 99 Problems, from South Devon, 4-2. The Kurds also took the tournament Fair Play Award. Exeter Labour pledge to increase police presence

We will work with Devon & Cornwall Police to increase the number of police officers and PCSOs on the streets of our city, say Exeter Labour.

Exeter was one of the first cities to pioneer neighbourhood policing, and the faith in that form of policing is now seen nationwide with the introduction of Police Community Support Officers.

In the “Stronger Exeter” survey, Exeter's residents were clear that visible police presence, including PCSOs, is the most important factor in keeping Exeter safe.

Once again, the short-list for the Devon Farm Business awards presents a fascinating cross-section of what is happening in farming in the West Country.

The common threads running through all of the farm businesses which are up for an award at the presentation evening on the eve of this year’s Devon County Show (May 19-21) are enterprise, innovation, market focus and family farming.

Body confirmed as missing Rose Polge

Following formal identification, officers have confirmed the woman’s body recovered from the Dorset coast on Friday 1 April is that of missing Torbay Hospital junior doctor Rose Polge.

A police spokesman said Rose’s family have been informed and they request their privacy at this very difficult time.

The 25-year-old was reported missing from Torquay on Friday 12 February.

Rose’s car was found in Anstey’s Cove just after 6pm that day and officers from in and around the Torbay area were involved in searches to locate her, as well as Coastguard, RNLI and Dartmoor...

Two charged following Exeter assault

Police were called just after 4am on Sunday 17th April following reports of a disturbance at a property in Beacon Lane, Exeter.

A man in his 40’s sustained a number of serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Two people were taken into police custody in connection with the aggravated burglary.

Samantha Day, aged 29 from Thornbury Avenue, Exeter has been charged with assault by beating, being in possession of an offensive weapon, and grievous bodily harm with intent.
