Low says 'easy decision' to stay at Chiefs

Scotsman Moray Low says it was an 'easy decision' for him to agree terms on a new deal with Aviva Premiership side Exeter Chiefs.

With his initial two-year stay set to expire this summer, the former Glasgow Warriors prop has put pen to paper on a similar deal, tying him to Sandy Park until 2018 at least.

Low’s decision to remain in Devon is yet another timely boost for Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter, who has wasted little time in tying down new contracts for a number of his current squad, as well as adding a fresh sprinkling of new faces for next season.

Crime continues to fall across region

New figures announced today (Thursday, 21st April) show that recorded crime continues to fall across Devon and Cornwall.

Crime recorded between the 1st April 2015 and the 31st March 2016 shows a 3.8 per cent reduction on the same period the year prior. This equates to 3,021 fewer crimes compared to 2014/15.

Victim based reported crimes reduced 5.2 per cent with further reductions in burglary dwelling (14.9%) and burglary non-dwelling (11.5%); plus vehicle offences (10.1%); theft (13.1%); shoplifting (12.5%); and criminal damage (6.2%) also saw a reduction.

Firefighters from Ottery St Mary Fire Station will be teaming up with Sixth Form students from Kings School for a charity car wash this Saturday (23 April) from 10am-2pm.

They will be rolling up their sleeves at the local fire station in Canaan Way to raise funds for the Fire Fighters Charity and the Goodwill Children’s Home in India.

Horse rider injured by car in South Devon

Police are appealing for witnesses after reports of a car failing to stop following an incident that left a young rider injured on Moor Road, Ipplepen.

Just before 9.30am on Saturday 16 April, a 17-year-old girl was knocked from her horse after a car drove around a corner causing the horse to spook and rear.

The rider sustained a suspected broken arm and sprained ankle.

The car then drove off without speaking to the rider. The driver is described as a white man, approximately 40-years-old, of large build and was possibly wearing a high visibility jacket.

Exeter Chiefs prop Moray Low has today committed his long-term future to the Aviva Premiership club by agreeing a new two-year deal.
