For many elderly people the idea of loneliness is something which is unfortunately common, but thankfully the people of Exeter and East Devon are not alone - thanks to organisations like Encounter Theatre and Therapy.

ETT acts to aid from a dramatherapeutic perspective to help adults who may be facing a range of challenges.

They have used their unique approach to reach out to the elderly in Exeter, as they teamed up with Age UK and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum to bring the “Local Elders-Weather Memories and Connections” project to the area.

RMT rejects government attempt to foist bus franchising onto local authorities

Bus union RMT has warned that the government is set to imminently publish a Buses Bill designed to export the “franchising” model from the railways and onto our buses. The warning comes on the day that RMT’s annual bus workers conference begins to gather in Torquay for a start on Friday 8th April. The current system of deregulated bus services, whereby a bus company can start or stop working a route at will, has resulted in a chaotic and unfocused network. Public consultation for second phase superfast broadband programme launches

A public consultation is being launched on Wednesday 6 April to kickstart the next stage in the rollout of superfast broadband in Devon and Somerset.

Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS), the partnership delivering the high speed programme, is starting the process to award a contract - or contracts- by the Autumn for the remainder of the second phase of the superfast roll out programme across the region.

Man suffers life-threatening injuries in Exeter assault

Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in Exeter.

Officers were called to a property in the area of Lower Summerlands and Clifton Road at 1.10am on Wednesday 6 April.

A man, who is not from the local area, was found with serious injuries which were described as life-threatening.

The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A scene guard remains in place at the premises and house-to-house enquiries are being carried out by officers in the area.

Baxter looks ahead to crunch European quarter-final

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has revealed his side are confident going into their European Champions Cup Quarter-final.
