Devon Libraries & Bookstart launch successful Bounce & Rhyme beach events

Under 5’s and their families celebrated National Bookstart Week with FREE Bounce & Rhyme events on the beaches of Devon.

Over 350 parents and children attended the events which were designed to encourage reading as a fun activity. They were held by Devon Libraries in conjunction with Bookstart and Children's Centre staff across the county. Themed ‘Under the Sea’, events were held at Ilfracombe, Teignmouth, Dawlish, Dartmouth & Exmouth and were aimed at under 5’s and their parents and carers.

Join Dartmoor National Park Rangers, Volunteer Wardens and staff for 2 minutes @ 2pm on Thursday 23 June at Spitchwick, Deeper Marsh, for a #2 minute litter pick (as seen on BBC Springwatch!), to tidy up the popular picnic spot.

Classic American car show comes to Cofton

A mix of muscle cars, hot-rods and American classics including Chevrolet’s, Cadillacs, trucks and Jeeps will be turning heads and thrilling fans at the annual American & Classic Car Show held at Cofton Country Holidays near Starcross on Sunday 03 July.

Exeter Army Careers Centre hosts Schools’ Challenge

For the first time since 2012, the Exeter Army Careers Centre is hosting the Devon & Somerset Schools’ Challenge.

As the name suggests the event is a competition between visiting local schools, where they will participate in a variety of Army themed exercises, designed to test and develop their communication skills, team-working and leadership.
