Scott Marshall was inspired to take up mushroom growing when he discovered the health benefits of mushrooms. Now an expert grower supplying some of Devon and Cornwall’s top restaurants, he is all set to take his mushrooms to the streets for the Nourish Festival in Bovey Tracey this weekend. Free, specialist Information and support about cancer is coming to Devon from Tuesday 6 September to Thursday 8 September.

Macmillan Cancer Support’s mobile service will be visiting the area, with cancer information specialists on hand to answer questions and provide information. The team encourages anyone with worries or concerns relating to cancer to stop by, whether you’re living with or beyond cancer, or are a carer or loved one of someone who is.

Police appeal after burglary at Spreyton home

Police are appealing for information relating to a burglary which happened at a rural home near Spreyton, Devon, whilst the occupiers were away on holiday.

The burglary is believed to have taken place between Thursday 14 July and Saturday 16 July 2016.

New levy for developers introduced

East Devon District Council will be introducing a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) from Thursday (September 1) as a way of securing money from developers towards providing infrastructure such as school places, open space, new roads, and sports pitches.

The levy partially replaces the current Section 106 agreements which are a legal contract between the council and a developer to secure money towards the infrastructure of a development.
