Tedburn St Mary Community Choir return to Exeter Northcott Theatre after their sell out show in July 2015. This time they are hosting a Celebration of A Cappella including performances by Tedburn KIDZ (Key Stage 2 and 3 children from local schools), Orchard Harmony (a female a cappella group from Whimple) and featuring Semi-Toned (Exeter University’s very own award winning male a cappella group). With music ranging from current pop music to musical theatre and well known classics this is an evening not to be missed.

This is a fund raising concert for Rowcroft Hospice.

Axminster Hospital fully operational after flooding

Services at Axminster Community Hospital are now back to normal after it was temporarily closed last week due to flooding.

The flooding, from a burst water main pipe, caused some infrastructure damage and affected the hospital’s IT services and electricity supply. As a result, services at the hospital had to be temporarily suspended.

Staff from the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust and Northern Devon Healthcare Trust, together with partner organisations, worked jointly throughout last week and into this week to fix the problems.

‘Class of 2016’ congratulated on 100 per cent exam pass rate

Nineteen staff from five offices of chartered accountants PKF Francis Clark, including Exeter, celebrated their exam successes at a special reception.

The ‘Class of 2016’ achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in their taxation and accountancy exams.

Managing Partner Andrew Richards described the results as “outstanding”, adding: “They have all worked so hard for these qualifications and I, and the rest of the firm, could not be prouder.”

Heroin, crack and cash seized in Exeter

Three men have been arrested and drugs and cash seized following a warrant being executed at an address in Exeter.

On Monday the 10th of October, officers from the neighbourhood policing team and drug enforcement officers executed a misuse of drugs act warrant at an address in Longbrooke Terrace, Exeter.

Three men aged 21, 19, and 18, all from London were arrested.

Samsung scraps Galaxy Note 7. Refunds available

Samsung today confirmed that it is permanently stopping production of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.

The firm said it had made the decision to stop production for the sake of consumer safety after it was involved in dozens of fires and explosions worldwide.

It said in a statement: “Putting consumer safety as the top priority, we have reached a final decision to halt production of Galaxy Note 7s.” A spokesperson confirmed that the suspension was “permanent”.

Libraries Unlimited marks World Mental Health Day

Since April this year, more than 6,500 people have borrowed mental health and wellbeing titles from libraries across Devon, including 2,500 young people, Libraries Unlimited has revealed. The news comes as Libraries Unlimited, the social enterprise responsible for the running of Devon’s Libraries, marked World Mental Health Day (10 October), with the launch of 200 special talks, workshops and events focused on mental health and wellbeing during November. New watchdog for Exe Estuary

Marine businesses, fishermen and sailors are to get a new voice about what happens on the Exe Estuary.

Commercial fishermen, ferry operators, mooring authority representatives, pleasure boaters and boat yard owners have come together to form a new watchdog, the Exeter Port Users Group.

This is a result of Harbour authorities, such as Exeter City Council, now having to consult their local communities about what happens on the Estuary.

On October 14 Rusty Pig is taking over Exeter’s Exploding Bakery for one night only, with a special pop up feasting house.

‘Ethical chef’ Robin Rea is taking his food wagon complete with mobile wood fired oven to the bakery and café located right beside Exeter Central Station, where he’ll be serving up the Rusty Pig’s unique take on funky flat bread pizza.
