Redrow West Country appoints new construction director

Redrow, one of the UK’s leading house builders has appointed a new director at its West Country division to head up its increasingly busy Construction department.

Its new Construction Director, Andrew Hopkins, brings to Redrow 35 years’ experience gained in residential construction and business management across England and Wales from roles in both the private and public sector. Every Spring and Autumn Freemasons from all around Devon meet to support local organisations who are in need of financial assistance, among which are Children’s charities , Scouts, Youth Centres and locally based charities including Hospices Hospital Services and Cancer Charities.

SW construction market slowing post EU vote

The majority of UK construction sectors are experiencing a slowdown in growth, as Brexit uncertainty continues to cause concern, according to the latest Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Construction Market Survey.

While 26% more chartered surveyors reported that construction workloads in the UK had risen, rather than fallen this quarter, this is a significant slowdown on the trend growth over the previous three years.

Staff working for The Midas Group, one of the largest independent construction companies in the South West, have donated 833 volunteer hours to help support good causes across the South of England and Wales.

Local mums launch pop up children's market in Exeter

Two local mums are launching a brand new pop up children’s market this month. The Cheeki Monkeys preloved sale will open it’s doors at the end of the month and, along with lots of bargains for mums and dads to browse, will also feature a ton of exciting entertainment for the kids. Taster sessions will be available from Rugby Tots, Pyjama Drama and Urban Flow to keep the little ones amused whilst the grown ups shop. City council takes action on St Thomas arches

At the Exeter City Council meeting held on 18 October, Councillors formally approved the £50,000 budget to install fencing the length of the arches. This follows repeated complaints from residents about anti-social behaviour in the area.

Dartmoor’s stunning landscape, ever changing weather and fascinating folklore is an inspiration for many film makers and this year it has again worked its magic on 13 young people aged between 8 and 16 from the Buckfastleigh area.

Working with Jellyfish Productions, as part of Dartmoor National Park’s Naturally Healthy Project, the young film makers have created two incredible, atmospheric and spirited short films My Dear Mother & The Old Church Mystery.

Devon Wildlife Trust calls for votes to bag a share of £12.5m fund
