The 2017 Hospiscare Swimathon is on its way.

April 1st 2017 is the date to remember and while this may seem like a long way off, it’s never too early to start thinking about getting a team together.

Entry closes on 17th March 2017, or whenever this popular event is fully booked, so don’t dilly dally - join up today!

Hospiscare is extremely grateful to Devon & Cornwall Police for use of the Middlemoor Police HQ Swimming Pool for the Swimathon, it wouldn't be possible without them.

Thirteen Exeter College students are celebrating after being offered places at the world-leading universities of Cambridge and Oxford.

Seven students studying at Exeter College have won places at Cambridge and six at Oxford. The offers cover a range of subjects including Biochemistry, Maths, Engineering Sciences, History, Law, Philosophy, Spanish and Arabic, and Architecture.

New residents parking zones in Exeter

Work on two new residents parking zones in the City, and extensions to three others, have begun.

The schemes follow requests from residents affected by commuter parking and feedback from a subsequent public consultation.

Residents in the affected roads will be able to apply for permits from Wednesday 1 February 2017, and each eligible property will receive a letter with information on how to apply.

There will be a new zone for the Elizabeth Avenue area (Zone S6) which will consist of Elizabeth Avenue and the Prince Charles Road Service Road.

Teignbridge District Council has launched their 2017 ‘Don’t be a Dumper’ campaign, aimed at getting people to pick up after their pooch and reduce the amount of dog mess left on the sands and seafront areas of local resorts.

Throughout the week, starting Monday 30 January, Teignbridge’s resorts staff will be using glow in the dark temporary spray paint to mark dog mess on the promenade areas. Dog wardens will be out in force and will fine anyone who is seen not picking up. A clear up will take place on Friday 3 February to remove what’s been left behind.

Customers looking to get fit and healthy were treated to free smoothies, fruit and fun healthy activities at the Tesco Exeter Vale Extra store.

Four West-exe primary schools forge closer links

Four Exeter primary schools are working more closely together to improve the education of their 1,270 pupils.

Bowhill, St Thomas, Alphington and Ide have this month formed the Exeter Learning Academy Trust.

All four schools are rated either good or outstanding by Ofsted but they say their closer working links will enable them to focus even more closely on improving their teaching and learning.

The family of an injured man who was involved in a serious collision on Saturday 11 June 2016 have received anonymous information about the collision.

Police would now like to trace the person who provided the family with this anonymous information.

More than half a million people are expected to watch and count their garden birds for this year’s Big Garden Birdwatch, organised by the RSPB.

The world’s largest garden wildlife survey (now in its 38th year!) takes place on the 28th, 29th and 30th January 2017.
