GWR boost for Lapstock

Train operating company Great Western Railway (GWR) has come to the rescue of Lapstock, the annual mid-Devon music festival by agreeing to stop trains at Lapford station for the duration of the highly popular event.

The agreement is a boost for festival organisers as access to Lapstock would have otherwise been restricted for those in the North of the county due to a prolonged closure of the A377 at Eggesford.

Uplyme flood improvement scheme complete

Work on a £250,000 flood improvement scheme in Uplyme has been completed.

New culverts have been installed through Uplyme village hall car park, as well as under the B3165 Lyme Road and Pound Lane, in order to carry flood water away from the village centre, which suffers the greatest risk of flooding.

The improvements in Uplyme have reduced the flood risk to 12 properties and regular flooding to the highway.
