Lightfoot formally announces The Honest Truth as its Charity of the Year

Lightfoot, the maker of the world’s first technology to reward better drivers, has announced The Honest Truth as its first official Charity of the Year.

Having originally asked staff for recommendations of charities to support, Lightfoot’s board of directors whittled down all nominations to a shortlist of three before giving the deciding vote back Lightfoot’s staff. The Honest Truth came out firm favourite in the final poll, claiming 51% of the total votes cast.

If the world’s most famous steeple chase, the Randox Grand National, has fuelled the imaginations of pony-loving children, next Tuesday’s Junior Jumpers Raceday (9 April) at Exeter Racecourse will prove the perfect day out.

Junior Jumpers was created with the aim of increasing attendance amongst children and to encourage parents to regard horseracing as a family friendly pastime.

Experimental Traffic Regulation Order in Powderham

New road restrictions are to be introduced in Powderham.

Devon County Council is introducing the changes in a bid to reduce the volume and speed of traffic on Estuary and Church Roads, through Powderham village.

The Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) will prohibit all motor vehicles, except for access, and will apply for the full length of the route between A379 junctions at Red Lodge in the north and Starcross in the south.

Young Global Enterprise Challenge winners travel to Seattle for awards

A team of pupils from Broadclyst Community Primary School (BCPS) and another from Gyan Mandir School in India recently flew out to Seattle to be awarded trophies in the 2017/18 Global Enterprise Challenge (GEC).

Meeting for the first time, the two teams celebrated their achievements as young entrepreneurs, met Anthony Salcito, Vice President of Worldwide Education, Microsoft, and were given a tour of the prestigious Microsoft headquarters, following the official launch of the next GEC, which begins this autumn.

Exeter Arena Skatepark Opening Jam event

Skatepark users will be out in force on Saturday as Exeter’s newest facility – Exeter Arena Skatepark – holds an Opening Jam event.

The event will feature music, pro-rider demonstrations and competitions for all ages and abilities - scoot, skate and BMX – with lots of great prizes and giveaways.

There’s no need register beforehand, just turn up on the day. Everyone is welcome to attend and it’s all free of charge.

Action gets under way at 12 and runs throughout the day until 4pm. The event has been organised by Exeter City Council and designers Maverick.
