Devon businesses enjoy a sunny day of golf to raise money for Hospiscare

The sun shone brightly the 15th Marnie Burgoyne Memorial Golf Day earlier this month when 50 teams, many from local businesses, took to the fairways at Exeter Golf & Country Club and helped to raise a fantastic £16,717 for local charity Hospiscare .

The day is organised by a committee of volunteers and is held each year in memory of Marnie Burgoyne, who was part of the founding team that helped raise the money to build the hospice building, Searle House, which opened in 1992.

Team Michelmores conquers the National Three Peaks Challenge

A team of 30 Michelmores staff together with two representatives from The Amber Foundation have completed the National Three Peaks Challenge, beating their fundraising target of £8,500.

Starting on 11 July, the team conquered Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Snowdon in Wales, in less than 24 hours. The group covered a distance of 23 miles, a total ascent of 10,052 ft - and drove a distance of 462 miles between climbs. NSPCC has urged parents to think carefully before leaving their children unsupervised during the school holidays, after seeing a 21 per cent rise in contacts about the issue last summer.

Students from Exeter College have been celebrating success following the National BTEC Awards 2019.

A total of nine Exeter College students were recognised at an awards ceremony that took place in Westminster in July. The event celebrates exceptional BTEC students and apprentices while also shining a light on the inspirational teachers who have influenced their learning.
