There are not too many organisations that have existed for 125 years in the same building but, on Monday 9thSeptember 2019, that is exactly what the Freemasons of Exmouth celebrated – the 125th Anniversary of the opening of Exmouth Masonic Hall.

A total of 80 Exmouth Freemasons and guests celebrated with a special 4 course dinner to commemorate their forefathers foresight, exactly 125 years and 1 day ago.

New washing machine filter breaks down plastic microfibres

Plastic microfibres that come off clothes in washing machines can be degraded and dissolved by a new filter developed at the University of Exeter.

The “smart filter” catches microfibres and uses a set of enzymes to break down plastic into two by-products that are safe to be released into the water system.

While these two compounds (terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol) can be toxic at high concentrations, the volume of water released during a wash is enough to dilute them to a safe level.

An Exeter company which has developed a money-saving tool to reduce fuel costs and generate greater efficiency from domestic and commercial heating systems, has revealed details of a significant cash injection from investors.
