Redrow launches new nature-friendly biodiversity strategy in partnership with The Wildlife Trusts

Leading housebuilder Redrow has launched its ‘Nature for People’ biodiversity strategy, established as part of a long-standing partnership with charity The Wildlife Trusts .

The strategy sees the housebuilder commit to objectives under three key themes - Nature Gains, Rewilding Lives and Flourishing Legacy - including:

£1.2million extra government funding to crack down on burglary and theft in South West crime hotspots

Three police forces in the South West are to receive extra funding as part of the government’s £25million Safer Streets Fund – delivering on a key Conservative manifesto commitment.

Avon and Somerset will receive £400,000, Devon and Cornwall £546,781 and Dorset £266,357 – a total of £1,213,138.

The Safer Streets Fund forms part of the government’s concerted action to tackle crime.

It aims to stop offences that blight communities and cause misery to victims from happening in the first place.

Devon preparing bid for next phase of Emergency Active Travel Fund

Devon County Council is preparing to submit its bid for the second round of Emergency Active Travel Funding by the end of next week (Friday 7 August).

Devon is bidding for around £1.3 million to create more permanent schemes that provide extra space for pedestrians and cyclists in order provide alternatives to public transport and to improve safety and encourage more active travel.

The Exeter Chiefs Foundation has distributed funds totalling more than £200,000 since lockdown began.
