Countdown to city’s carbon neutral goal with TEDxExeter

PEOPLE in Exeter will be able to join an international response to the climate crisis when TEDxExeter Countdown launches on Tuesday, October 13.

The year-long initiative kicks off with a virtual event featuring talks from leading thinkers and doers in the campaign for climate action, who will share examples of the progress communities around the world are making towards a zero-emission future. Places are free and can be booked via tedxexeter.com/tedxexeter-countdown .

It seems such a long time ago now, but there was once a time when we could all jump on a plane and fly off to exotic destinations. Annually, from the UK alone 3.8 million Brits make the trip across the pond, many of these were for family visits. And many more were looking forward to a family holiday to Disneyland, or the Florida beaches, or to the nightlife in Las Vegas. Then came Coronavirus.

£1.2 million in government funding will help researchers develop an innovative online programme to improve and personalise care for people with dementia in care homes, which were hard-hit by the COVID-19 crisis.

Many of the 400,000 people living in care homes in the UK have dementia, mental health or neuropsychiatric symptoms, and a number of physical illnesses.
