Ditch your disposable face mask and save £190 in 2021

A simple face mask “hack” of swapping disposable single use face masks for washable ones will save the average Exeter resident £190 in 2021 – and reduce the amount of non-recyclable masks being send to landfill the weight equivalent of 5 Eiffel Towers.

“Lets face it, we will be wearing face masks in Exeter throughout 2021, so now is the time to swap single use masks for washable ones – the cost saving is £190 for a year, a huge amount of money for many people this Christmas”, explains Charlotte Green from Exeter waste company TradeWaste.co.uk

‘Make the right call’ this winter

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is urging people to ‘Make the right call’ this winter by only calling 999 for life-threatening emergencies.

The Trust is expecting a significant increase in 999 calls over the Christmas period and beyond, due to the ongoing coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic alongside normal winter pressures.

It expects to deal with almost 3,000 incidents a day during the next month, an increase of around 20 per cent compared to normal, with demand expected to be highest at weekends and on bank holidays.

There’s a new Wow! factor in Topsham right now - and it’s got wings!

The town has become the temporary home to the latest creation by east Devon sculptor and craftsman Brendan Rawlings, who makes large, striking, carved driftwood figures.
