Wilson trades the StoneX for Sandy Park
Exeter Chiefs have signed Saracens second-rower Harry Wilson on a two-year deal from the 2026/27 season.
The Gloucester-born forward, who can play across the back five of the scrum, joins Chiefs after two seasons and 27 appearances for old rivals, Saracens.
Wilson said: “When I spoke to Rob about joining Chiefs, the first thing that stood out for me was the physical nature of how he wanted the team to play. I really wated to add to and be a part of that.
“It seems that this is a tightly bonded squad and one that wants to bring silverware back to Sandy Park. I’d really like to contribute to taking Exeter back to the top.”
An experienced Champ Rugby product, Wilson played an integral part for Doncaster Knights, Ampthill and London Scottish across four seasons in the league. Most notably, the forward was nominated to the Champ team of the season in his season with the Knights in 2023/24.
As a result of playing every minute of that captain for the Knights, Wilson earned a contract with London-based Saracens. Playing alongside the likes of Maro Itoje and Nick Isiekwe, Wilson’s impressive run of performances with Saracens have seen him generate an average tackle success rate of 85% across all competitions.
Wilson previously captained Hartpury University to a BUCS Super Rugby title and has worn the captain’s armband for Saracens in the PREM Rugby Cup competition, proving a more than competent leader on-field.
Chiefs’ director of rugby Rob Baxter said: “Harry is a player we’ve looked at a good few times. We originally had a look at him when he was at Doncaster Knights, and we were really impressed with him. He was one of the standout back-five forwards in the Championship.
“At the time, it wasn’t the right move for us, but we’ve tracked him throughout his time at Saracens where he’s part of a hugely competitive player group. He’s played in a lot of games, had a lot of positive contributions for them.
“He’s a player we believe will fit in really well to our squad and what we’re looking to build going forward, with a good mix of maturity and different backgrounds. It’s also a big positive that he can cover more than one position, it’ll be a good fit for our pack.
“He’s still young enough to be very ambitious in the game. I think he’ll really compliment the group of back-five forwards we have at Chiefs, so we’re looking forward to him joining us.”
