Exeter gallops into Christmas with festive race day for ELF

Exeter Racecourse will sparkle on Friday 5 December as festive outfits, thrilling jump racing, and generosity come together for ELF Race Day, supporting the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF). ELF provides vital care and support to families affected by blood cancers and blood disorders across Devon, including transport, accommodation, counselling, aromatherapy, and practical assistance during challenging treatment journeys.

There’s a free drink for every racegoer who comes to the races wearing a Christmas jumper, Santa hats, or full Santa suit with live music with Aston Dobson during the first half of racing sure to add to the atmosphere.  There’s also a Christmas gifting station, allowing racegoers to donate items to support ELF patients. Boxed toys, board games, colouring sets, blankets, toiletries, games, notebooks and novels are all welcomed and gifts can be dropped at the Main Office or the Information Point in AP’s Bar, with the last day for donations on Friday 5 December.

A spokesman for ELF said: “ELF (Exeter Leukaemia Fund) is delighted to partner with Exeter Racecourse for a special Festive Race Day on 5 December. This partnership offers a wonderful opportunity to raise vital awareness of our work within the local community. We invite everyone to come along and enjoy a fantastic day of festive racing, while helping to support less fortunate local families whose Christmas will be turned upside down by blood cancer.”

Exeter Racecourse’s general manager Jack Parkinson added: “This is such a great cause and we are so pleased to be able to use the clout of Exeter to support it. We hope that everyone gets into the spirit of the occasion, dresses up and comes along for a thoroughly brilliant day out.”

With group discounts for parties of 15 or more this is the day to break free from the office and kick start the weekend with a day at the races. Return buses with Greenslades Tours depart Exeter St. Davids at 10:50am, returning 4:25pm.
