The Bowling Green raises £5,000 for Devon Air Ambulance Trust with a ‘Big Shave’

The Bowling Green, Exeter has raised around £5,000 for Devon Air Ambulance Trust through a ‘Big Shave; event. The pub is still accepting donations made in person at the pub and online through a JustGiving site.

The licensees, Nigel Cook and Saskia Russell were joined by Mike Knight, who lives in the area, and they all shaved their heads. Nigel also dyed his beard pink at the request of one of the guests to help raise further funds. The pub raised the money through an online JustGiving site, but also accepted money at the bar on the day.

Nigel Cook, the licensee of The Bowling Green, said: "I feel blessed that the local people supported the cause and have been donating money all this time. The number of people that came to watch us during the ‘Big Shave’, showed us just how important Devon Air Ambulance Trust is to people. I feel a bit different without my ponytail and beard, as they have become a part of me over the years. But after all, I did it for a good cause and I will never regret it.”

In support of this fundraiser, Stonegate Group has provided Free Beer, with all of the proceeds going directly to the pub's fundraiser for Devon Air Ambulance.
