Exeter retirees took the opportunity to find out more about the hidden secrets of the historic Killerton House property in Broadclyst, when a representative from the National Trust visited McCarthy and Stone’s Pinnoc Mews Retirement Living development in Pinhoe, Exeter recently.

Guests joined homeowners and staff at the development on Bakers Way for a talk on the 18th century property, which was left to the National Trust by the Acland family in 1944.  Everyone enjoyed a glass of fizz in the homeowners’ lounge while they listened to guest speaker, Eileen Dillon, from the National Trust.  After the talk, there was a prize draw for a National Trust annual membership for two, which was won by Miss E Gadsden.

All those who attended the special event were also invited to take a closer look at Pinnoc Mews and to have a tour of the recently-unveiled show complex.  Visitors also spent time chatting to the McCarthy and Stone team, and retirees who are already living at the development.

Ciara Hilley, divisional marketing manager for McCarthy and Stone, said: “Our talk with the National Trust was a great success, and it was a pleasure to welcome so many local people through the doors for what was a fascinating and insightful talk.  It gave us great pleasure to present Mrs E Gadsden with two annual memberships for the National Trust, and we hope they enjoy making the most of their prize.

“Events such as this give us the chance to showcase the sense of community and companionship all retirees can enjoy here at Pinnoc Mews, and to provide people with an idea of the lifestyle our homeowners enjoy at the development.”

Comprising a selection of 39 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments, exclusively designed for people aged 60 and over, Pinnoc Mews provides everything homeowners could want for a relaxing retirement.

The shared lounge is perfect for socialising with new neighbours, and homeowners can make the most of beautiful landscaped gardens knowing all the maintenance is taken care of.  Selected apartments also include a patio or balcony so homeowners can enjoy the outdoors from their own property.

A House Manager takes care of the day-to-day running of the development and there is a secure entrance system and 24 hour emergency call system for added peace-of-mind.

The village feel of Pinhoe combined with the amenities of Exeter make it an excellent place for retirees to downsize to, with its thriving community and proximity to the countryside.

Prices at Pinnoc Mews currently range from £219,000 for a one bedroom apartment and from £289,000 for a two bedroom apartment. Furthermore, there has never been a better time to move to Pinnoc Mews.
