The benefits of volunteering in your local charity shop are many, and this week, 16 – 21 October, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is inviting anyone interested in volunteering to pop into their local CHSW shop to find out more.

Stephanie Robey, retail volunteer advisor at the charity said: ‘Volunteers are the lifeblood of our shops and we welcome anyone who has ever wondered whether or not volunteering is right for them, to visit their local shop and have an informal chat with the shop team. There are so many benefits to volunteering from making new friends to gaining experience, and you’ll also be helping to support your local children’s hospice at the same time.’

CHSW has 30 shops around the region, including in Exeter’s Sidwell Street, offering an important source of fundraising for the charity which offers care and support for children with life-limiting conditions. The shops always aim to be at the heart of the local community and there are many ways in which volunteers can help, from processing stock donations to window displays, dressing mannequins and shop styling.

Whether you’re looking for new friends, skills or would like to give something back to your local community, CHSW would love to welcome you to their shop team. Why not pop into your local CHSW shop this week to find out more or you can contact Stephanie on 01271 313319 for a friendly chat or email volunteer@chsw.org.uk
