Father Christmas arrives in Sidmouth

With the Christmas season in full swing,  Sidmouth, a Wyevale Garden Centre, has preparations underway to welcome the arrival of Father Christmas to the centre on Saturday 3rd December to open his magical Christmas grotto, which is set to be bigger and better than ever!

The centre team welcome families from the local community come down to enjoy this festive event.

Father Christmas will be arriving at the garden centre in a lifeboat donated by the Sidmouth Lifeboat organisation, which will be pulled along by a tractor. Crew members in full lifeguard gear will be on hand to personally escort Father Christmas down the driveway to the centre, where he will then officially open his grotto.

If you’re unable to see him arrive on this date, then don’t worry – he will be in his grotto every other weekend leading up to Christmas, until he has to head back to the North Pole on the 24th December!

Paul Marder, Centre Manager at Sidmouth garden centre says, ‘The arrival of Father Christmas is set to be a great event to really bring the community together! We’ll have lots on to make visitors feel as festive as possible, so we look forward to seeing all of the families and excited children who come down to join us at this exciting event!’

Arrival of Father Christmas – Timings and details

Saturday 3rd December 2016

Father Christmas will be arriving at the centre at 11am, in a boat donated by Sidmouth Lifeboat, pulled by tractor and escorted by crew members in full lifeguard gear

  • Families will be able to indulge in non-alcoholic mulled wine, festive hot chocolate and tasty mince pies
  • Local carol singers will also be present, cheering our guests with the very best Christmas carols

Visitors to Father Christmas’ grotto are asked to give a small donation to the Club Rotary Club who will be running it and there is no need to book in advance.

Crew members from the Sidmouth Lifeboat organisation will also be present collecting donations throughout the morning.

The Grotto will be open 11am-4pm on each of the following dates:

  • 3rd/4th December
  • 10th/11th December
  • 17th/18th December
  • 22nd/23rd/24th December
