Exeter BID appoints new Area 8 representative
Exeter BID Board is pleased to announce that Philippa Rutherford has been appointed BID representative for the Gandy Street, Harlequins and Queen Street area of the city, following a ballot among members within the area.
Philippa Rutherford, who owns and manages the independent jewellery, accessory and gift shop, Mantis on Gandy Street said: “As a BID board member my focus will be to raise awareness and increase footfall in the area. Gandy Street, Queen Street and the Harlequins shopping centre have some of the best independent and big name retailers, cafes, restaurants, bars and clubs. It would be great if visitors were more aware of this special area.”
“I think the BID gives Exeter a real chance to make a difference to the visitor experience and also a chance to improve the City Centre for local businesses too,” Philippa continues. “I would like Exeter to shine and stand out in the South West as the most vibrant, exciting city with fantastic shopping facilities, an amazing selection of eateries and a cultural offering that is second to none.”
Wayne Pearce, Chair of the Exeter BID Board said, “We are looking forward to welcoming Philippa to the board at her first board meeting on Thursday 21st April. Along with the rest of the BID team, we are excited about moving into Year 2 of the scheme with a range of initiatives in the pipeline.”
Philippa takes over the post from Jon-Paul Hedge, former Echo editor, who stepped down following a change in employment.
