A specialist Devon-based travel consultant has been ranked as one the top sellers of tailor-made holidays to Canada.

Irene Cox of Nomadic Travel, on Gandy Street in Exeter, was shortlisted for the ‘Best Canada Specialist Travel Agent Award’ at the British Annual Canada Travel Awards.

‘Destinations Canada’, with whom Irene travelled to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia last year, review independent agent booking figures and she was invited up to London to attend the event last week.

"I enjoyed the evening immensely and I was amazed to find I was amongst the top 5 sales agents in the UK," she said.

"Of all the countries I prepare trips to, Canada is the one where our clients most wish to make return visits and this speaks volumes for what it has to offer.

"Breath-taking scenery and the chance to go bear-watching and see whales in close-up makes for outstanding experiences to suit nature-lovers and outdoor enthusiasts."

Nomadic Travel managing director Rob Hitchings says: "Irene has visited Canada seven times (so far) and loves working on the Canada and Alaska enquiries we receive.  She has boundless enthusiasm for this part of the world and I am so pleased that her efforts have been acclaimed in this way."

Rob and his team of consultants research the worldwide destinations they offer by travelling regularly themselves with staff trips to Costa Rica, Sri Lanka, India and Kashmir already lined up for 2016.

Rob adds: "Gaining recognition for our efforts is always a boost and encourages us to keep travelling ourselves to continually improve our service."
