Labour leadership favourite Jeremy Corbyn is to hold a rally in Exeter, it has been announced.

The sudden popularity of the MP for Islington North has surprised his own party.

Opinion polls have put Corbyn ahead of his rivals Andy Burnham, Yvette Cooper and Liz Kendall.

A similar rally, due to take place in Cambridge this week, was postponed.

The organiser of the Canbridge rally announced that the event would be rescheduled due to police concerns over high numbers expected to turn out.

A spokesperson said: "This is an opportunity for you to hear Jeremy put his case for Labour leader and the chance for you to get answers to questions you may have for him.

"Come along and hear how he is building both this campaign and putting forward the wider case for progressive politics.

The rally takes place at the Exeter Corn Exchange on August 28, 2015 at 6:30pm - 8pm.
