Teignbridge celebrates Love Parks Week
The council is hosting the week-long programme of activities to showcase its range of parks, wildlife sites and open spaces.
Love Parks Week began in 2006 with a simple aim: to encourage people to visit, enjoy and take pride in their local parks and green spaces, driving the message that our parks and green spaces are essential to healthy, happy and strong communities.
And this year is no different with the emphasis on enjoying the great outdoors and exploring the weird and wonderful wildlife that lives in the soils and woodlands around us.
Cllr George Gribble, Teignbridge District Council’s Executive spokesman for Communities, Recreation and Leisure, said: “Our parks are a national treasure and every year over two and a half billion visits are made to parks up and down the country.
“Teignbridge has got some great parks with a huge variety of things to do, from boating in Decoy Lake to splashing around in the wet play area at Teignmouth’s Den. Our quality green spaces are essential to happy, healthy communities and we want to show them off to everyone.
“This year we are putting on some events that bring people as close as possible to nature and wildlife. We’ll be holding family events that enable people to learn in a fun, informative way.
“Providing top quality open spaces and recreation facilities is one of our main aims, and Love Parks Week is a great time to celebrate what’s right here on our doorstep. We’d encourage everyone to come along and see what is on offer.”
