Firearm incident in Barnstaple

Police have said they are dealing with an ongoing firearms incident in Castle Street, Barnstaple.

The situation began shortly after 4pm  after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man inside a property.

Police have asked people to stay away from the Castle Street area for the time being while the situation 

The Strand in Barnstaple closed between the A3125 Long Bridge junction and the Cross Street junction, in connection to this.

Also affecting Castle Street between Cross Street and Commercial Road.
