Bad Weather Boosts Business Growth For Exeter Construction Firm
Exeter construction firm Mulberry has seen significant business growth in the last two months driven by poor weather and an enhancement to their status as the preferred supplier in the region to Crawfords Repairnet, the UK’s largest loss adjusters and building repair network company.
Mulberry has seen a 38% increase in turnover during September and October compared to the same period last year and report that the growth stems from a surge in the number of insurance related domestic flood repair projects they are currently delivering.
“The bad weather has undoubtedly been a boost for business,” comments Mulberry director, Cary Burwood. “We are currently dealing with nearly 20 flood repair jobs that range from £15,000-40,000 in value across the region from Winterbourne Abbas in Dorset to Camborne in Cornwall.”
The insurance repairs market has become Mulberry’s most significant business stream. The family-run firm manages more than 1000 residential and commercial property repair claims a year and are approved suppliers to all the major national insurance repair and loss adjuster networks. Mulberry who are retained by Crawfords Repairnet, have just extended their remit to also manage all subsidence work for Crawfords across the South West. It is anticipated this additional subsidence work will lead to a 20% increase in turnover for Mulberry.
“Traditionally this would not be one of our busiest periods, but having worked hard to secure accreditations such as our recent ISO 9001 and our coveted position on the insurance repair and loss adjuster networks, we are seeing the number of enquiries coming into the business up by more than a third in the last two months” adds Cary.
Mulberry is keen to build on this business growth and have committed to recruit additional employees and increase their marketing activities.
The firm directly employs 25 skilled tradesmen across their offices in Exeter and Truro, and is now looking to recruit several additional employees.
Cary explains how Mulberry are using the growth in their work with insurance repair companies to also leverage growth in the private insurance sector, via their investment in a significant broadcast advertising campaign, “We have invested £36,000 in an ongoing radio campaign across the region to also highlight our private insurance repair service. This is a business area with big potential for us and we’re keen to let home owners, who are instructed by their insurance company to source their own building repair quotes, that we are an established building repair firm with a strong knowledge of the insurance claim process and experienced to guide them through the process.”
Mulberry’s airtime campaign is currently running with Heart FM and will be enhanced with an additional online campaign from December for three months.
