Busy city workers thinking about making changes to their career path can now access professional advice regarding job opportunities, courses and funding after they leave work for the day, thanks to new, late careers advice appointments.

From September, the National Careers Service in Exeter will be offering appointments until 7pm once a month at its centre in Queens Street.

The centrally located office, just a stone’s throw from the High Street, is convenient for workers who are unable to attend during the day.

National Careers Service Adviser, Caroline Ward said: “For people in full-time employment, finding the time to attend a careers advice session during work hours can be impractical. We’ve listened to the needs of local people and these new evening appointments will give them the same chance as everyone else to receive help from our expert advisers.”

Caroline added that a positive response from city workers could lead to this initiative being extended. “Should this service prove popular, we will look at adding extra days,” she explained.

Booking is essential, and appointments can be made either via the National Careers Service on 0800 100 900 or directly with the Exeter centre on 01392 203603.
