Search for suspect two continues in Watertown

The whole greater urban area of Boston has been put into a state of virtual lockdown as the search for suspect two continues in the streets of Watertown. All public transport has been suspended including buses and subways in the Massachusetts Bay area. People at stations were asked to “please go home”.

The suspects - named Dzhokhar A Tsarnaev, 19, who is on the run, and his 26-year-old brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, moved to the US a year ago from a Russian region near Chechnya.

Residents shared photographs of the ongoing police operation. The images were taken on Laurel Street, where the shoot out between the two suspects and police forces took place.

The authorities asked the residents of Watertown, Newton, Waltham, Bellamont, Cambridge, and the Austin and Brighton neighbourhoods of Boston to stay indoors. "We need your help now. We’re asking everybody to shelter in place. No vehicle traffic is going to be allowed to travel in and out of Watertown until further notice. No businesses are going to be allowed to be opened, " Watertown Police Chief Ed Deveau said.
