(NewsPoint) –Hundreds of farmers remain in Brussels on Tuesday after a dramatic protest on Monday saw 15,000 litres of milk sprayed at the EU Parliament, and at riot police.

Dairy farmers from all over Europe gathered in the Belgian capital in protest of what they say are excessive milk quotas and prices below the cost of production. They want a price increase of 25% in order to cover their costs.

Protesters are continuing to demonstrate outside the European Parliament building, and tractors have caused severe delays by blocking roads in the city. Many EU officials have been unable to reach their offices due to the protest. Commuters have also been affected, with some reporting journeys to work taking almost four times longer than usual.
